Hot Springs in Gold West Country: Elkhorn Hot Springs
Elkhorn Hot Springs was originally owned by the federal government as part of Beaverhead National Forest. The federal government relinquished ownership of the land and water rights were filed in 1905. Cabins and a horse stable were built near the site a year later.
The resort has 11 log cabins with wood stoves or fireplaces (wood is provided), as well as ten rooms on the second floor of the lodge. Elkhorn Hot Springs is a year round hot springs resort which offers two outdoor hot mineral pools, a Grecian sauna, a restaurant, and a bar. Guests can enjoy hiking, horse trail rides, mountain biking, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, plus downhill skiing at nearby Maverick Mountain. Guests can also explore the nearby ghost town of Coolidge.
